Something isn't working? Try these first
Most problems go away with a fresh start. Try these steps in order, and stop when things are working again.
Quit and reopen PubKeep
Section titled “Quit and reopen PubKeep”- Save your work with Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on a Mac).
- Quit PubKeep completely:
- On Windows, close every PubKeep window. PubKeep quits when the last one closes.
- On a Mac, choose “Quit PubKeep” from the PubKeep menu or press Cmd+Q. Closing the window leaves PubKeep running.
- Open PubKeep again, then open your publication.
Quitting fully also matters after you install a new font. PubKeep looks for fonts when it starts, so a font you just added shows up only after you reopen it. See Why is PubKeep using a different font?
Finish an update
Section titled “Finish an update”When a new version of PubKeep has downloaded, you’ll see a notice that says it’s ready.
- Save your work.
- Click Restart & update now in the Update ready window, or Restart to update in the notice at the top of the window.
- PubKeep closes, updates, and opens again.
If you closed the notice, click the File tab. Under the version number at the bottom left, click Restart to finish the update, or Check to look for a new one.
Reopen the file
Section titled “Reopen the file”If only one publication is acting up, close it with File > Close and open it again with File > Open. If you have a recent backup copy, try opening that too, so you know whether the problem is in the file.
If it still isn’t working
Section titled “If it still isn’t working”Tell us about it
Section titled “Tell us about it”Use Report an issue at the top right of the window, or Help > Contact Support. Tell us what you were doing and what went wrong. If it’s about a specific publication, check the box to include the file so we can see the same thing you do. See Report an issue with your file.
