Windows warnings when you install PubKeep

PubKeep is new, so Windows and some antivirus programs are cautious about it at first. These warnings are normal, and you can get past each one in a few clicks. The simplest way to avoid most of them is to install PubKeep from the Microsoft Store. See Install PubKeep.

    1. In the blue box, click “More info”.
    2. Check that the publisher is Saint Systems, LLC. That’s us, the company that makes PubKeep.
    3. Click “Run anyway”.

Edge says the file “isn’t commonly downloaded”

Section titled “Edge says the file “isn’t commonly downloaded””
    1. Next to the download, click the “…” button, then “Keep”.
    2. If Edge asks again, click the small arrow next to “Delete” and choose “Keep anyway”.

If PubKeep won’t open after you install or update it, or your shortcut says the file was deleted or moved, your antivirus probably put PubKeep in quarantine. Your files and license are fine.

    • Norton 360: open Norton, click “Security”, then “Quarantine”. Find PubKeep, click the three dots, choose “Create Exclusion & Restore”, and click “Yes”.
    • McAfee: add an excluded file or folder for your Downloads folder and for %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\PubKeep. Then download PubKeep again and open it.
    • Any other antivirus: install PubKeep from the Microsoft Store instead, or write to hello@pubkeep.com and we’ll help.

    Windows ransomware protection blocks saving

Section titled “Windows ransomware protection blocks saving”

If Controlled folder access is turned on, Windows may stop PubKeep from saving into folders like Documents. PubKeep tells you when this happens. Click Save somewhere else to save in another folder for now, or allow PubKeep:

    1. Open “Windows Security”.
    2. Go to “Virus & threat protection” > “Manage ransomware protection” > “Allow an app through Controlled folder access”.
    3. Choose “Add an allowed app” > “Recently blocked apps”, then pick PubKeep.

If you’re still stuck, reply to your license key email or write to hello@pubkeep.com. A real person reads every message.
