October 1, 2026

Microsoft removes Publisher from Microsoft 365 on October 1, 2026.

Subscriptions lose it

After that date, a Microsoft 365 subscription can no longer install Publisher at all.

Older copies run out

A 2019 or 2021 copy still opens .pub, but Microsoft stopped selling it and support ends October 13, 2026. When that PC is retired, the app goes too.

Microsoft's own advice

"Convert your existing files to another format before 10/1/2026." Read the notice

Convert your first files free

First 2 files free, just your email.

How it works

Three steps, about ten minutes.

You do the first step. We do the rest, and you get the files back in the same shape you sent them.

  1. 1

    Drop a folder

Pick a folder of .pub files, subfolders included. Upload it in one go.

  2. 2

Each file becomes an exact PDF

Every file converts to a PDF that matches the original exactly, fonts, spacing, and layout.

  3. 3

    Download a matching zip

You get a zip in the same folder shape, plus a per-file report that lists anything that failed.

Fidelity

Not a lookalike. Exact.

There is no second program guessing at your layout and re-flowing your pages. Your fonts, spacing, bleeds, and rotated frames come out exactly as you set them, with nothing to re-interpret.

That is why fonts, bleeds, rotated frames, and fold-over booklets come out the way you set them. The pages in the PDF are the ones Publisher draws.

Publisher's own export
PubKeep

Same layout, same fonts, same page.

What you get

Built for a folder, not a single file.

Exact, not an imitation

Your PDF matches the original page for page and font for font. Nothing is re-flowed or approximated.

Whole folders at a time

Upload a folder with subfolders and get them all back. No opening files one by one.

Nothing is browsed by a person

Files are stored under a random job id, never by name. They are removed on a fixed schedule after you download.

A download that matches your folders

The zip mirrors your folder shape. A per-file report shows what converted and what did not.

Works from a Mac

You do not need Windows or a Publisher license. It runs in your browser.

See what failed and why

Every batch comes with a plain report. A file that fails is named, and it is never charged.

Compare

One flat price beats a per-page bill.

Say you have 250 two-page bulletins to convert. Here is what each kind of tool asks of you.

In their words

What Publisher users are saying.

These are public posts from people who use Publisher, not customer reviews.

"I have thousands of Publisher files; I'm not opening each one individually to convert them. This is 20 years of work that my business is going to lose."
Microsoft Q&A community post
"My husband and I run a small IT support business in a rural area, and we have hundreds of clients that are going to be slammed by this, including a number of non-profits who rely on it for daily use."
Microsoft Q&A community post
"I have used this program for the majority of my work and it upsets me that I will lose all of my past work and have to adjust all my layouts and projects through a program that does not feature what can be accomplished through Publisher."
Microsoft Q&A community post
"...a million parish newsletter editors cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced."

Questions

Questions people ask first.

They match your original page for page. Fonts, spacing, bleeds, and rotated frames come out exactly as they looked in Publisher. Nothing is re-flowed, re-fonted, or approximated.

Free tools take one file at a time. For a folder of 250 files, you would upload each one by hand. PubKeep takes the whole folder at once and keeps your subfolders. You get a zip back and a short report.

Your uploads and PDFs are stored under a random job id, never by their name. They are removed on a fixed schedule after you download. No person opens your files.

No. A PDF is a finished page, not a layout you can change. To keep editing your work, use the PubKeep desktop app. It opens .pub files and lets you change the text and pictures.

If you use Microsoft 365, you can no longer install Publisher after that date. A perpetual copy from 2016, 2019, or 2021 keeps running, but Microsoft no longer sells it and support ends October 13, 2026. When that computer is gone, so is the app that reads .pub.

No. The .pub file on your disk does not change or expire. There is no kill switch. What you lose is the app that opens it. Convert now, and you keep a copy you can always open, no matter what happens to the app.

You still get every file that worked, plus a short report that names the ones that did not and why. A failed file is never charged.

Just your email, no password and no card. We send a one-time link that signs you in for your free files. A file pack or an Unlimited plan uses the same sign-in, so your credits are saved.
